Objective 4/12/19: King's Lake Rd. to Kings Lake and North Skookum Lake
24.12 miles, 1570 ft elevation gain, 3420 ft. highest elevation reached
I've done part of this ride, many times on my road bike for the 700 vertical foot climb in 4 miles distance, where I turn around at the gravel pit, where the pavement ends. It was cool to keep going on it today.
King's Lake was still frozen. Ran into snow about 1 mile past King's Lake, heading towards North/South Skookum Lakes. Made note of Half Moon Lake Rd, impassable right now due to snow. Will ride to Half Moon Lake soon though. I want to find a road where you get unobstructed views of South Baldy Mountain. I got a peak of it on the ascent, and it looked grand! I think it has potential for snow mobile assisted skiing if you can access it in winter. They do groom trails starting at King's Lake, and there's a Sno-Park there.......
Sat out a rain shower at the Sno-Park near King's Lake, taking shelter in the covered entry to the pit toilet. This occurred at 4:20PM, so it was only fitting that a safety meeting be called to order.
I was glad I brought an extra layer and a gore-tex shell for the descent, I was chilly and it got colder. The huge fanny pack I have came in very handy.

| I want to climb the peak on the left, and have climbed the peak on the right. The gap between the two peaks takes you from the Skookum Creek drainage to the Cook's Creek (and Sandwich Creek) drainage. This is a loop I want to do, but was turned around by snow a couple days ago. I've done each half of the loop seperately. |

| The gateways to the Skookum Creek, Cook's Creek, and Sandwich Creek drainages and a shit ton of forest service roads. |
